Photography - Photos of my garden - herbacious and perennial border plants 24th April 2011 to July 2013

I love spending time in my garden, weeding, planting and pruning. Making sure all the plants, shrubs and herbs get plenty of food and water to keep them strong and bright. These pictures are a credit, not to my gardening skills, but to the efforts of my plants, considering their recent unintended neglect, to maintain their beauty.

Sadly, I am unable to up date the photographs this year, we have had a pretty bad time over Christmas and New Year, with my 91 year old father-in-law being so poorly and now from Easter (Good Friday) as 24 hour carers we are finding it a little difficult to do anything spectacular with the garden this year apart from maintaining it. I will probably get my hanging baskets done before the end of the month but so far all we can do is maintain the lawns...

It is now July 2013 and with no effort at all the plants in my garden are in full bloom, proudly displaying all their wonderful flowers and bright in colour - rain and sunshine has helped enourmously and the choice of plants to grow, plants that will regrow year on year.

In dire need of some stress therapy I did manage to do the hanging baskets, however.

I bought some trailing fuschias, creeping jenny, trailing geraniums, begonias, salvia, trailing lobilia in a variety of colours from the local car boot sale paying far less than you would if you went to the local supermarket or garden centre. For the lining this year I cut up the empty corn feed plastic bags that we have for the growing family of ducks that frequent out garden. I lined the baskets with the plastic filled the area with the compost from last years hanging baskets, arranged the plants so that the trailers, trailed over the side and topped the soil up around them with the rest of the soil left over and added some compost, I also added in some of the surviving pansies from last years baskets. Watered them and hung them up. The results having been stunning. They probably cost about a fiver each to make and less than an hour of my time to create.

Roses just seem to survive, don't they!

Unfortunately my peach roses didn't after being vandalised last year....

Hope you enjoyed those photographs. My garden looks so pretty at this time of year. it will look even prettier when everything comes into bloom. I would like to document those changes here. So this will be the first of 'My Garden' hubs.

We are going to be making some window boxes as well this year so I will take photographs and show you how that progresses.
