As darkness falls about me and night is drawing near
I imagine all kinds of things unable to shield my fear
My fear of being lonely I'm thinking of you only
So afraid of the dark
Why did you leave me to die alone
leaving me with nothing I wanted to own
Taking away all the love that you gave
now only memories all around me remain
As the evening closes in I lie in our bed
all my thoughts placing nighmares deep in my head
old habits never die I still cry
so afraid of the dark
The weeks are passing by so fast and darkness closes in
I close my eyes and memories make patterns on the walls
door bells ring but meaningly I am deaf
don't want to meet shabby salesmen making calls
I miss you - my love
Why didn't you hear me
when I called out your name, so in vain
and why did you break my heart
why can't you see what you're doing to me
why did you decide we should part?
Now I'm so afraid of the dark
If only we could change our direction
Travelling backwards in time
Putting all our thoughts down on paper
Turning simple words into rhyme
back in time when you were mine
Now I'm so afraid of the dark
